LO3: Editing footage with special effects

Image
During the editing of the scene we have had to slice the footage into 3 separate sections to then be able to further add a slow motion shot in the scene to help add to the atmosphere of the short film. From doing this it means that the audience will be able to identify the genre of the short film and the storyline that is occurring.    To add special effects to the scene we have added the special effects of a slow motion shot of the guy looking at the girl, this adds a more intense and a 'romantic' feeling to the short film. This has been done because it adds to the classic scene of when the first cross over to be dramatic in other short films, this adds a classic touch to the short film and makes it seem more professional.  We decided to slow the clip down by 50% to make the scene have a more dramatic and intense atmosphere to the scene. This scene needs to be more intense because it needs to create a dramatic feel to add to the storyline of the guy liking the girl and t...

LO2: Rushes, textual analysis and conventions

This scene meets the generic conventions because it shows different angles on the scene and allows the audience to feel what the atmosphere is like in the location. This helps add to the generic conventions because in real short films I have studied it replicates the conventions of how certain camera shots and lighting can change the view of a shot and change the genre of it through the different camera angles and shot types. This footage shows the male being more dominant through being able to pot one off the pool balls. From there being a dryer lighting on the date scene it shows that there can be a comfortable and warm feeling towards the scene and shows how it could connote the genre of romance. The angle of this shot allows there to be more conventions added to the scene and connotes the idea of being an intense and confident atmosphere in the scene. This scene shows the generic conventions through it shows the makes reaction to the girl walking by him giving the audience he...

LO2: Record The Short Film - abided by health and safety guidelines

Safety guidelines   During the film ing process we abided by health and safety guidelines through checking the locations we  would be filming at and the safety procedures that are already in place at the current time. To secure the health and safety guidelines we made sure that the equipment was checked for the battery percentage before it was taken out and it was all packed into safety bags to then be taken to the specific locations. This made sure that all the equipment was secure and safe, and none would become damaged during the transportation from locations. Whilst recording we made sure that all the wires and equipment was safely secured together to make sure that nobody would trip over any of the wires whilst we was filming, to state all the security measures and safety measure we will take we have created a risk assessment outlining all the possible risks and how we can avoid them from occurring and how we could solve them. Before filming we checked the acces...

LO2: Setting up equipment

Image
In this image is Emily using a tripod, microphone, and cannon DSLR camera, when setting up the tripod you can set it to different lengths, if you need  the tripod to be long then you need to unclip the latches on each leg and slide it down. Furthermore, when attaching the camera to the tripod you need to use the slider and attach it to the camera, then you need to tighten it to the camera by screwing in the screw that goes into the camera and twist it. Now attaching the microphone to the camera, you can easily slide it onto the camera than using the little gear on the on the camera you can tighten it up. When abiding by the health and safety guidelines especially.  This image is shows Ben putting the camera on to the weighted mount for the Steadicam. When setting this up you need to make sure the mount is on a flat surface, so it doesn't fall over and break the camera. Another health and safety tip when setting up t...
